Paul Corfield - Autumn Splendour

This painting is based on a view at Stourhead Gardens which is on the Dorset/Wiltshire border. The gardens themselves were planted in around 1740 and were inspired by great landscape art from the 17th century. I first visited Stourhead as a young child aged and only recently returned towards the end of last year. The colours in autumn are a real treat
and are what I’ve tried to capture in this painting. I’ve changed a few things compared to the actual scene in real life just to make a more interesting composition.
